Are you a contracts professional with demonstrable and proven commercial aptitude?, At Leonardo Helicopters, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Contracts Manager, to lead a team of commercial specialists.

You will manage existing contracts, negotiate contract amendments and play a leading role in the support of bids & proposals within defined limits.

Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external Customers, that facilitate the achievement of both the Company's objectives and Customer's contractual requirements, will be key to being successful in this role.

This role is a level 6 on our Salary & Career Progression framework.

What you'll do as a Senior Contracts Manager

  • Provide professional contract management (and administration as necessary) of nominated contract(s) and agreements, including:

  • Understand all of the contract obligations and the timing of the contract deliverables, ensuring that such deliverables are executed in accordance with the contract

  • Monitor and report on the achievement to the Customer of its contractual obligations, satisfactorily resolving any resultant impacts

  • Negotiate contract amendments (including terms and conditions) and agreements with reference to Head of Commercial or Senior Commercial Manager as appropriate.

  • Ensure alignment of key subcontracts in support of Procurement.

  • Develop negotiation strategies for negotiation of contracts and agreements for medium complexity business.

  • Support the execution of negotiation strategies on high value, complex contracts.

  • Ensure risk is appropriately mitigated in the contract through price, schedule, terms or contract scope as applicable.

  • Negotiate the contract price for medium complexity business, including resolution of price issues for the Company and the Customer.


  • As the commercial lead for medium value/non- strategic bids/proposals, ensure that:
  • Proposals submitted are coherent, complete, comprehensive, professional, meet the Customer's requirements, can be delivered by the Company in accordance with the proposal requirements and meet the Company's objectives;

  • Risk is appropriately mitigated in the proposal through price, schedule, terms or contract scope as applicable.

  • Lead and manage a team of commercial specialists to ensure nominated contracts are delivered to achieve profitable business at minimum risk and to meet the Company's business plans and objectives.

    Ability to adapt to diversity (cultural, organisational, managerial, relational, etc) and employ an adaptable approach to different situations

  • Have a good working knowledge of key contract terms.

  • Interpret and apply the commercial strategy to optimise commercial advantage and minimise risk.

  • Understand the costing and pricing process, the role of Government Bidding, the issued costing guidelines, approval levels associated with priced proposals and be able to formulate prices for proposals within a delegated authority.

  • Have a good knowledge and understanding of the costing and pricing mechanisms associated with FOREX, Firm/Fixed pricing, the effects of escalation and the application of cost to price uplifts.

  • Have verbal and written communication skills appropriate for the role including regular interface with senior managers both internal and external to the organisation, with a clear capability to construct and communicate information effectively.

  • Be able to develop, recommend and implement solutions to complex role related problems

  • Be able to evaluate and determine the effectiveness of solutions to complex role related problems

  • The ability to interpret corporate objectives and the correlation with the working goals of internal and external stakeholders

  • Demonstrable and proven commercial aptitude based on previous experience of not less than 5 years in a business environment, You must be eligible for full security clearance.
