Full Job Description

Whilst fulfilling the usual remit of a Security and Community Safety Officer, the role at the University has a focus on the student experience, Customer service and Support whether studying, working or part of the community in accommodation.

Being front-line, good customer service is key to helping the different areas when on site. This can include, site access, evidence retrieval, working closely with the residential life team to ensure safety across the varied areas.

Working with the Campus Police team, you will be given the opportunity to gain and enhance skills to be able to achieve a high standard of community safety, whilst building your training portfolio through scenario exercises such as water rescue, fire investigations and first aid response.

The department is a subsidiary of the University of Northampton, with a layered management team, allowing you chance to build upon your position and get the most out of your experience.

Working in the higher education sector, we are looking for the applicant to have excellent customer service and communications skills, along with a good, flexible, and positive approach to a situation.

Security experience would be an advantage with candidates requiring a valid Security Industry Authority (SIA) Door Supervisor license. Having a Close Circuit Television (CCTV) SIA license is preferred, however, not essential as we offer training to obtain this license.

We are looking for someone keen to learn new areas and help build upon our reputation of security and community safety, helping to lead the way to a safer tomorrow.

A full driving license is desirable for this post.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • SIA door supervisor license

  • SIA CCTV Operative License (or to be obtained during probation period)

  • First Aid at Work Certificate (or to be obtained during probation period)

    Full Time - Average 42 hours per week. 12 hour shifts following a 4 on 4 off shift pattern

  • You will be working a 12 hour, 4 on 4 off, days and nights shift pattern, over an averaged 42 hours a week. Full training will be provided. You will be primarily based at the new Waterside campus, however you may be required to work at any of our sites as requested.
