Full Job Description

Based in the UK and reporting directly to the Head of Data Engineering, we are actively seeking a Scrum Master. The role will play a pivotal part in managing out the Data Centralisation project as it enters the next phase of elevate and optimise. This team will be responsible for managing existing data pipelines and reporting alongside delivering new data capabilities.

You act as a facilitator, coach & problem solver within the agile project team and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of our data products.

ISP Key Responsibilities
As a Scrum Master, you will:

  • Organise and facilitate key Scrum events, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives. Ensure that these meetings are effective, time-boxed, and encourage active participation from all team members.

  • Identify and eliminate any blockers that may hinder the team's progress. This may involve coordination with stakeholders, resolving conflicts, or providing necessary resources.

  • Serve as a coach and mentor to the team, guiding them on Agile practices, Scrum principles, and continuous improvement. Empower the team to make decisions and grow in their roles.

  • Shield the team from external distractions and influences that could disrupt their focus or commitment during a Sprint. Promote a safe sand collaborative environment for the team to thrive.

  • Ensure that information regarding increment progress, challenges, and changes are transparently shared with all stakeholders. This includes maintaining and updating Scrum artifacts like the Sprint Backlog, Burndown charts, time and spend tracking.

  • Collaborating with the BI team & Head of Data Engineering to prioritise the backlog and help refine the user stories, setting clear acceptance criteria and tasking within the DevOps board.

  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks that may impact the successful delivery.

    Proven experience as a Scrum Master in a SAFe or similar environment within data projects.

  • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage conflicts and promote a collaborative team environment.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve their goals and deliver high-quality products.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards addressing challenges.

  • Create an environment of mutual influence and support the project team commitments.

  • Knowledge of Schools/Education technologies beneficial e.g. iSAMs, Engage


  • Technical Skills
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, including pipelines and releases.

  • Highly effective at planning and organising.

  • Familiarity with a range of data & analytics disciplines (e.g. data governance, business intelligence & analytics, data architecture, data engineering, data science) with a passion for using data to improve business outcomes.

  • Knowledge of emerging trends and issues within data & analytics.


  • Education and Soft Skills
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or other relevant agile certifications (SAFe Agilist, SAFe Scrum Master, etc.) are preferred.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring quick decision making, providing innovative but sustainable solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at the most senior levels of the organisation.

  • Ability to manage own work to meet challenging deadlines.
