Full Job Description

To assist & support QA Manager to maintain factory GMP standards, CCP monitoring and all aspects including paperwork and factory QMS procedures are adhered to all the time. The paperwork and procedures related to product through all stages of processing and dispatch of final product, ensuring quality, legality & safety standards of branded and own label products by efficient utilization of all available resources, following Copernus QMS and current legislation.,

  • To support QA Manager in managing, coaching, mentoring, and supporting QA teams to perform their duties with best of their abilities.


  • Walk around production areas frequently to check for any production GMP/ FB/ Hygiene /Quality issues and challenge operations teams in raising the standards while educating and supporting new members.


  • Organize and assist with product samples for annual shelf-life validation and nutritional validation tests according to schedule along with pre-listings for Lidl.


  • Involve in daily/weekly meeting with QAs and Tier 1 and Tier 2 daily meetings along with QA Manager and report, deal with any issues.


  • Check daily start up records and report any issues to engineering department


  • Assist QA manager in updating and maintaining start up checks for all departments and keep up to date with changes


  • Assist in managing the quarantine log and release of products with approval from technical management.


  • Ensure QA team are assigned with their daily/weekly and monthly tasks and they are completing all the tasks as required.


  • where required validate & sign off QA documentation related to CCPs daily


  • Assist QA Manager with completion of monthly QMS internal audits/ ensure departmental audits are completed as per schedule


  • Assist QA Manager in preparing/ supporting in leading customer visits and audits, including EHO, customer and BRCGS audits.


  • Assist QA Manager and investigate quarantine \ concession materials


  • Working with the cross functional teams to ensure full compliance with all company and customer requirements including BRC.


  • Support QA manager in early management of NPD (new Product Development), Equipment and Packaging projects.


  • Provide technical input into product trials and launches as required.


  • Ensure the correct level of Technical QA cover is in place to facilitate shift cover on all shifts to accommodate unannounced visits or audits.


  • Maintain product sampling systems and review of product micro, organoleptic and


  • analytical work, where required re-tests and relevant corrective actions implemented
  • Handle any issues that arise daily with the factory, hygiene issues, quality issues etc.,


  • Assist QA Manager in leading investigations into customer complaints and queries.


  • Assist QA manager in updating paperwork as required for all departments


  • Attend all NPD product trials in factory preparing all necessary paperwork needed for each product.


  • Attend daily Technical and production meetings in absence of QA Manager


  • Support QA manager in leading third party and customer audits i.e.: BRC. Preparing and co- ordinating corrective action. Close out where applicable (including Root Cause Analysis)


  • Organizing product, water, Ice samples for micro/ chemical/ heavy metal testing.


  • Assist QA Manager to maintain and manage the calibration systems;


  • Support RMQA team in monitoring incoming raw material issues and raise NCs where relevant with suppliers to resolve the issues. If required concessions being raised and communicated with relevant department's i.e. supply chain and operations teams


  • Support training the newly started QAs on the QA work instructions and quality procedures to ensure they are fully competent;


  • Assist and investigate audit \ visit, sensory, micro, and chemical non- conformances.


  • Co-ordinate conducting traceability exercises according to scheduled frequency and customer requirements along with mass balance exercises. Identify failings within traceability documentation and implement all practicable steps to rectify them with the support of quality manager and Technical manager; Monitor process control documentation and all relevant aspects of the production environment checks.


  • Ensure rapid feedback of information, inclusive of advice if appropriate to manufacturing personnel to enable prompt adjustment and/or corrective action taken;


  • Manage the collection of quality performance data check sheets/ records in appropriate collated form and provide to the Quality Manager/ Technical manager;


  • Ensure all the due diligence documentation related with traceability and process control records are sorted, filed, and archived accordingly for quick retrieval for traceability exercises.


  • Maintain good housekeeping, comply with, and promote Company Food Hygiene and Environmental policies and ensure the Company operates in compliance with relevant legislation;


  • Carry out any other duties within your remit as directed;


  • Adopt 'best practice' in accordance with Company processes and procedures and adhere to Company policy guidelines.

    Quality Assurance Supervisor: 2 years (preferred)


  • Licence/Certification:
  • Level 3 Food Hygiene certification (preferred)

    We are currently seeking 1 experienced Quality Assurance Supervisor to join us within one of the UK's leading family-owned fish businesses. We are the largest independent supplier of skin-packed, and bulk fish to large multiples, wholesalers and the food service sector.
