Purpose of the role

The Front of House Manager leads a team to provide an exceptional experience and standard of service to every visitor to an Artangel project. The successful candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to use their own initiative.,

  • To create and maintain a friendly, welcoming atmosphere

  • To ensure excellence in visitor care is consistently achieved

  • To lead the team in delivering its duty of care for visitors, including fire evacuation and first aid responsibilities

  • To support the team by sharing information about the project and all activity on site

  • To provide tailored assistance and information to visitors with access requirements

  • To manage and circulate the staff rota and to review and submit staff time sheets

  • To regularly liaise with Artangel's Producer and report any safety or management issues promptly

  • To deal with visitor comments or queries confidently, effectively and appropriately

  • To act as a keyholder for the site for the duration of the project

  • To manage the collection of visitor data

    Essential

  • Experience of managing staff

  • Experience in a public-facing role where engaging customers in meaningful exchanges are key

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude

  • Ability to work independently and with initiative

  • Experience of following health and safety and risk management policies

  • Fluent in English

  • Competent in using Microsoft Office

  • Experience of handling cash and card sales

  • First Aid Training

  • Fire Marshall Training

  • Access Equality Training

  • Conversant in other languages (including BSL)

  • Enthusiasm for working in the arts
