Full Job Description

This is an exciting new post to join our excellent team on our busy ward at Sunderland Royal Hospital.

We are looking for a full time environmental assistant / housekeeper to work 37.5 hours per week working over 5 days (Monday Friday) covering from 0800 until 1600 each day. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, enthusiastic and have experience of working in a hospital / care environment.

Ward B28 is a 40 bedded ward which specialises in caring for patients who are admitted with renal, hematology and general medical conditions. Most of our patients are in a very high risk group and prone to infection due to being immunocompromised, therefore the ward requires extremely high standards of cleanliness.

The successful applicant would help to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the department and maintain adequate stock levels. You will be responsible to complete all daily checklists to ensure all equipment including emergency equipment are cleaned, working order, fully stocked and ready to use.

You will be joining a committed forward thinking team where you can make a significant contribution to safe effective care to the patients in the ward B28.

Main duties of the job

We require an enthusiastic, motivated person with a friendly nature and a caring attitude to join our team.

In this role, you will work closely with nursing team to ensure the ward is providing excellent standards of patient care and maintaining patient safety which will ensure a positive patient experience. The right candidate will have effective communication skills and demonstrate effective organisation skills.

The role is predominantly to help us maintain a high level of cleanliness, equipment maintenance and stock control in our ward, while assisting in improving the overall patient experience.

You will be joining an experienced, committed and forward thinking team and support will be given to you in this new role.
