Full Job Description
The Energy Analyst will be responsible for analysing the UK Electricity distribution and transmission system to identify potential connection points for renewable or sustainable energy developments.,
- Reviewing DNO and National Grid status and future work reports
- Comprehensive understanding of UK Power networks and future markets
- Analysis of DNO and National Grid outputs to forecast potential connection points.
- Communicate potential connection points to the site finding team
- Analysis of DNO and third-party reports
- Assist the grid team with general grid administration task including but not limited to:
- Compiling Grid Application forms
- Submission of grid applications to the DNO (District Network Operator)
- Submission of grid estimate requests to the DNO for prospective sites
- Logging & maintaining Grid Application progress and status
- Carry out market research and analysis on GB power systems
- Work on research projects, writing reports and problem solving
- Analyse data, extract data and input that data into the database accurately, using MATLAB/Simulink.
- Using your analytical skills to maintain the database and ensure attention to detail at all times in web application
- Recognising patterns and trends in your findings to make important changes where necessary
- Have a voice and your own autonomy to share your market research, with the team Determining effective capacity of non-dispatchable energy resources on the grid
- Calculating power variability from PV systems in an ISO territory
- Comparing the accuracy of satellite-based solar irradiance forecasts against ground-based measurements
- Calculating the value of solar by estimating utility savings in fuel, capital, and O&M
- Evaluating energy storage resources to meet forecasted load growth
- In addition to performing directed studies, the analyst will help write reports, write grant proposals, and develop new concepts and prototypes for future analytical software tools.
Have a 2:1 in a degree that either relates to energy, or within a STEM subject Electrical Engineering qualification (Mixed Engineering qualification including Electrical elements will be considered) - Experience with energy, waste and transport emission data
- Experience of developing carbon footprint calculations
- Will have prior knowledge of energy consumption data and/or energy saving technologies
- Numerically competent with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
· University PHD Student working in this field will also be considered.
· Passionate building a career within the energy sector within market research
· Experience in effectively managing large data sets from multiple sources
Software
· Matlab/Simulink Experience is essential.
