Full Job Description

Since the celebration of its first Mass on Christmas Eve of 1924, the clergy at Church of Mary, Mother of God have proudly served the parishioners of Ponders End. We are recruiting a Catechetical Coordinator for our parish at Ponders End who will support developing, and co-ordinating catechetical and sacramental programmes to facilitate growth in the faith life of the parish and parishioners promoting mission and leading to discipleship.

You will be responsible for coordinating, promoting and developing catechetical programmes within the parish, arranging and facilitating catechetical sessions and any parent's meetings with the clergy. Additionally, you will meet with the volunteer catechists to review, prepare and develop the programmes.

You will play a pivotal part in the parish team working to ensure that catechetical programmes integrate into a broader parish vision to foster and encourage discipleship and to be prepared to work with the parish team in developing programmes around that vision.

By building close working relationships with the Diocesan Agency for Evangelisation and the support/programmes they offer for Catechists, you will have an essential role in ensuring the close working connection between Ponders End Parish and the Diocese when developing catechism programmes.

You'll love working in a people-centred role, using your innovation and enthusiasm, coupled with your extensive knowledge of the Church and its teachings, to inspire parishioners on the development of their faith. As a practicing Roman Catholic, potentially with a degree in Theology or Archbishop's Certificate in Catechesis, you will be integral to the ongoing catechetical work within the parish.

To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to communicate in a friendly, inclusive and professional manner via telephone and in person. Able to work both independently, and in a small team of volunteer catechists, you will have a flexible and adaptable approach to your work and working relationships.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role for the catechism team in the parish, as an approachable, friendly and knowledgeable individual, you will work closely with the Parish Priest and volunteer catechists, you will deliver an inspiring catechetical programme for parishioners.
