Full Job Description

The Body Shop Technician is responsible for the repair of damaged vehicles and trailers, and the preparation of new vehicles.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00, with a 30-minute paid break per shift

Essential duties and responsibilities

To perform this role successfully, an individual must be able to assist and then after an allotted training period perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Carry out damage repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA road worthiness standard which may include:

  • o Strip and fit
    o Panel repairs
    o Prepare and paint
    o Fabrication and welding
    o Assist with estimating process
  • Ensure all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises

  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses as required

  • Support with the preparation of new vehicles pre and post delivery

  • Liaise with parts department to attain parts

  • Ensure appropriate clocking is made and all job cards are completed in a timely manner

  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness

  • Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend training courses as required

  • Adhere to environmental guidelines and ensure all substances, spillages and waste are addressed in the correct manner

  • Ensure all work is undertaken in line with the site Permit conditions

  • Any other duties relevant to the smooth and efficient operation of the department as determined by your manager

  • Education and/or Experience

  • Technical qualification (City & Guilds level 3 or NVQ qualified technician)


  • Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Current driving licence

  • Ability to work within a team Ability to work within guidelines and to deadlines

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills Excellent customer service skills

  • High level of computer literacy Detail orientated

  • Excellent organisational and analytical skills

  • Ability to work under pressure and have a solution-driven approach Possess excellent accuracy and numeracy skills

  • Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety requirements


  • Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • HGV licence

  • Experience of working with Scania products

  • Main dealer workshop experience
