Fully remote with the options to attend meetings in person and Charity events., HUMEN is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our Board of Trustees in the role of Treasurer. As a key member of the Board, the Treasurer will provide financial oversight, guidance, and leadership to ensure the fiscal integrity and sustainability of our organisation. The main duties you will undertake include:
  • Financial Oversight: Managing budgets, accounts, and financial statements.

  • Financial Planning: Leading the formulation of financial forecasts aligned with our strategic goals.

  • Banking and Payments: Ensuring all financial transactions and authorisations are conducted securely.

  • Record-Keeping: Maintaining robust accounting records and ensuring efficient management of resources.

  • Financial Reporting: Regularly reporting financial status to the board of trustees.

  • Budget Control: Monitoring budgetary limits and promoting fiscal responsibility.

  • Auditing: Overseeing auditing processes and liaising with external auditors.

  • Policy Development: Developing financial policies that safeguard our assets.

  • Legal Compliance: Ensuring all financial activities comply with legal standards.

  • Risk Management: Advising on financial risks and implications of strategic decisions.

  • Funding and Grants Management: Managing and allocating funds according to grant requirements.

  • Support to the Board: Providing financial guidance to help the board fulfil their statutory duties.


  • Please note that this role is fully remote, offering flexibility to contribute from anywhere. The estimated time commitment is approximately 0-5 hours per month, alongside participation in board meetings every 2-3 months, with no more than 6 Trustee meetings per annum., 1. Ensure Financial Stability: Your expertise in financial management and governance will ensure that HUMEN maintains strong fiscal health and stability. By providing strategic financial leadership and guidance, you will help safeguard our organisation's assets, manage financial risks, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    2. Support Strategic Decision-Making: Your financial acumen and analytical skills will provide valuable insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making by the Board of Trustees and executive leadership team.
    3. Enhance Transparency and Accountability: Through accurate and transparent financial reporting, you will enhance accountability and build trust with our stakeholders, including donors, supporters, and the wider community. By ensuring compliance with financial regulations and best practices, you will uphold the highest standards of integrity and governance in our financial operations.
    4. Enable Programmatic Impact: Your financial stewardship will directly contribute to the success of HUMEN's programs, events, and initiatives aimed at promoting mental health awareness and support for men. By effectively managing financial resources and aligning budgets with strategic priorities, you will enable the delivery of high-quality services and the expansion of our impact in communities.
    5. Sustain Organisational Growth: Your strategic financial planning and management will support HUMEN's long-term sustainability and growth. By collaborating with the Board and executive leadership to develop robust financial plans, you will ensure that HUMEN has the resources needed to adapt to evolving needs, seize opportunities for innovation, and achieve lasting impact in the field of mental health advocacy.

  • Professional qualification in accounting, finance, or a related field (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA).

  • Extensive experience in financial management, accounting, or auditing, preferably within the nonprofit sector.

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit financial principles, regulations, and governance practices.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and make informed decisions.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and build consensus.
