Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a leader skilled in logistics to join our team as Transport Manager in Knottingley. The purpose of the role is to manage and co-ordinate the transport function in a safe, legal and cost-effective manner. To maintain a high standard of customer service and to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company standards concerning vehicles and drivers.
Your Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regional Distribution Manager, the key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Working safely; ensure the safety of our colleagues through vigorous safety protocols and training, including managing all distribution related Risk Assessment's and Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Legal compliance; stay up to date with all transport regulations to ensure the operation runs smoothly and within the law

  • Customer Service: Uphold a commitment to outstanding service, fostering strong relationships with our customers and ensuring a high percentage of On Time In Full (OTIF) deliveries.

  • Cost Control: Implement cost-effective strategies to manage all transport spending including fleet optimisation, manpower utilisation and fuel consumption controls.

  • People Management: Lead and inspire the transport team including supervisors, drivers and maintenance personnel to achieve operational excellence.

    National CPC holder with detailed knowledge of the latest road transport regulations is mandatory as the incumbent will become the 'O' Licence holder.

  • Proven experience in transport management, with a strong grasp of industry standards.

  • A deep understanding of safety regulations in a distribution environment and a commitment to maintaining a safe workplace.

  • IOSH / NEBOSH Safety qualification (Desirable)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with customers, authorities, and team members.

  • A talent for cost optimisation and efficient resource management.

  • Leadership skills that motivate and empower your team.

  • Competent in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
