Full Job Description

  • Develop the physical platform roadmap and Body of Knowledge, including the techniques to be used and artefacts to be delivered for each program gateway, increasingly aligned with the techniques being developed by the Systems Engineering Chapter

  • Ensure that a complete and coherent set of systems engineering artefacts are delivered to the right quality level to achieve program milestones.

  • Ensure that all legal and dependability activities required by the Systems engineers have been completed on time and to the required quality level.

  • Identify and lead the resolution of complex, cross-functional and cross-Domain issues.

  • Work with the architects of the diverse disciplines (customer experience, hardware, software, Data, Power, etc.) to develop Architecture Concepts for future systems.

    Expert level of competence in all aspects of systems engineering: concept design, requirements authoring, logical and solution architecture, functional safety, cybersecurity and legal/regulatory compliance

  • Wide, general understanding of automotive systems and features

  • Proven delivery record in designing and architecting complex systems and architectures.

  • Competent SysML modeller (ideally MSOSA, or equivalent tools)

  • Competent requirements author (ideally TRM, or other requirements management tools)

You will be part of the System Engineering Community within the Digital Product Platform, and become one of the key technical contributors to the evolution of JLR's Electrical Electronic and Software Platform


  • You will be working in a critical role within the era of the Software Defined Vehicle, where the engineering of the E/E physical platform capabilities is a key enabler for decoupling the hardware and software development cycles. Working within the Physical Platform team you will be at the forefront of the developing the future Physical Platform. You will utilise your extensive knowledge of automotive systems, hardware, mechatronics, software and communication technologies, while working collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines, to develop the next generation of technology that underpin the JLR's Product Portfolio.
