Full Job Description

As the Senior Contracts Officer you will procure Gas System Management services that support the operation of the National Transmission System. This includes, management of strategic commercial relationships within the portfolio of accounts and the management of specialist service areas such as Data Services and Gas System Services.

You will lead the development of 'Balancing Services' contracts and tender processes to mitigate operational and incentive risks whilst managing relationships with commercial / contractual service providers.

You will support and identify development opportunities, introduce new services and service providers to meet the changing requirements of the System Operator, supporting the road to Net Zero whilst challenging as required to drive efficiency in activities.

You will represent National Gas at external meetings and committees with support from the Commercial Contracts Manager and work with the Incentive Performance and Development team to ensure the delivery of financial and regulatory reporting and business planning forecasts. You will provide support to the Gas Contracts Settlements Team activities to ensure compliance with our contractual and regulatory obligations.

You will support the development and lead the procurement and contract management of commercial service contracts with Gas System Management Service providers and system users that deliver security of supply arrangements, methodologies, systems and processes to ensure our evolving regulatory obligations are fully complied with by Gas System Operation (GSO).

To be successful in this role you will have strong interpersonal skills, especially in the areas of influencing and negotiating. You will be comfortable to and understand the benefits of building effective internal and external relationships whilst promoting an excellent team working environment.

Naturally you will have strong leadership, procurement and contract management skills and the ability to manage and deliver multiple activities. It would be desirable if you had working knowledge of a regulated industry, particularly around the commercial and incentive regime but you will have experience in quantitative analysis and risk management.
