Full Job Description

The SIA is the organisation responsible for the regulation of private security. It is an independent, arm’s length body (ALB) of the Home Office, reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. The SIA’s purpose, You will work within the strategy and scheme design team within Business Standards. The department is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing strategies designed to improve the standards of businesses across the private security industry.
We recently examined, reviewed, and refreshed our strategy for business approval and considered whether we should propose changes to the Approval Contractor Scheme (ACS) to better ensure public protection. The growing recognition of the critical role private security plays in public safety means there is a clear need for a new scheme which is grounded strategically in public protection.
We are mobilising a programme to deliver the strategy, including increasing technical / expert resources to deliver our refreshed strategy. You will contribute to our success by providing business analysis and business change expertise to deliver of a new business approval scheme.

You will serve as the communication bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring smooth project execution, effective documentation. What you will be doing:
+ Gather, analyse and document process maps, functional and non-functional requirements for the business certification scheme.
+ Conduct workshops and interviews with key internal and external stakeholders.
+ Research global certification standards and benchmarks for the private security industry providers.
+ Model and diagram as-is and to-be processes for administration of the certification scheme from end-to-end.
+ Support vendor selection activities by assisting with scoping of work, participating in tender evaluations etc.
+ Assist with the development of training materials and guides to assist with change management and user adoption.
+ Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of the Approval scheme.

+ Experience of requirements gathering, leading workshop facilitation, interviews, prototyping.
+ Experience and demonstrable ability to compile functional and non-functional requirements and manage these effectively in a catalogue.
+ Ability to model requirements with AGILE (User stories/epics) and UML (Use cases) and work with suppliers to articulate requirements and appraise proposed solutions.
+ Lead on acceptance criteria and assurance that test cases cover requirements.
+ Ability to influence and work with business colleagues up to project board level. Strong stakeholder management and communications skills.
It would be great if you have experience in these areas:
+ Experience of working in a UK Government environment
+ Experience of providing a level of quality assurance to all documentation and deliverables by ensuring a suite of documents is produced.
+ Experience of data modelling
+ Microsoft Office skills, ideally including Visio.
