Full Job Description

  • Act as a key interface between the business pillars and Energy Markets, providing market insights to support decision making

  • Work with the Senior Markets Analyst and Market Analysis Manager to ensure both intraday and End of Day Forward Curves are produced in a timely manner

  • Support the Forward Curve shaping process using analytical techniques and suggest means of improvement where possible to ensure processes are as efficient as possible

  • Support the building and implementation of fundamental and quantitative models that will allow us to prepare for changes in the future UK energy system

  • Proactively monitor the wholesale energy market and use fundamental analysis to input into the trading decisions of both Forwards and the EPS teams

  • Collaborate with other teams on specific market focussed topics in order to deepen understanding of market drivers

  • Undertake regular analysis to support market analysis outlooks and be able to communicate this to internal stakeholders

    This is a great opportunity for a motivated analyst to join the Market Analysis team on our busy Trading floor. The Market Analysis team are at the heart of the business' understanding of wholesale market dynamics and prices through the production of Price Forward Curves and the provision of vital market insights to the business as they make real time pricing decisions. This role is an exciting opportunity to join this analytical team and provide tangible value to the business.


  • If you don't currently have a detailed understanding of commodity markets but are eager to learn and have strong analytical skills, we'd love to talk with you about the role.,
  • BSc or MSC level qualification / or equiv experience in computer science, maths, physics or similar subject matter


  • Experience in a programming language - Matlab, Python or similar


  • Hands-on approach, flexible and positive attitude


  • Attention to detail and strong focus on accuracy of information


  • Effective communication both verbally and in written form


  • Excellent organisational skills, with a proven ability to successfully multi-task


  • Knowledge of the GB Energy Market is desirable
