Full Job Description

  • To manage the internal audit plan

  • To undertake the internal audits designated in our internal audit plan

  • To satisfy the requirements of all held ISO certifications, applicable energy regulations, and any associated contractual requirements.

  • To provide and present reporting as required to Board level and other business forums

  • To review operational process within the business to support maintaining all accreditations.

  • To review and/or provide commentary on developing new and existing policies, procedures, and controls.

  • To undertake RCA investigations


  • CONTEXT AND MAIN ISSUES
  • To ensure the business complies with relevant regulations, internal controls and bespoke contractual requirements

  • To understand and translate the impact of varying categories of non-compliances to the business at all levels

  • To ensure alignment of internal audit approach with business strategy

  • To engage with business process owners to drive timely resolution of non-compliances

  • Identify and reduce all business and financial risks through effective implementation and monitoring of controls.

  • Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity and legality of issue resolution

  • Engage in continuous knowledge development regarding sector's evolving rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards


  • MAIN ASSIGNMENTS
  • Identify and assess areas of significant business risk

  • Determine internal audit scope and plan audit schedule - to include-operational audits, process audits, IT audits, governance and ISO reviews.

  • Obtain, analyse and evaluate documentation, reports, data, flowcharts etc.

  • Manage risk based/control audit assignments.

  • Conduct ad hoc investigations into identified or reported risks.

  • Prepare and present audit reports that effectively present audit results and business impact for business stakeholders

  • Ensure complete, relevant and timely audit information is reported to Management and/or applicable Risk Committees.

  • Perform the full audit cycle including risk management and control management over operations' effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and regulations

  • Build positive working relationships with business stakeholders

  • Evaluate internal controls and make recommendations for improvements

  • Recommend actions to address and control weaknesses (and improvements to controls)

  • Negotiate and assist in design of suitable corrective actions and timelines with appropriate business managers

  • Track progress of audit actions, obtaining sufficient evidence to confirm closure

  • Conduct follow up audits to monitor issue resolution

  • Identify trends

  • Develop internal audit function by suggesting improvements to auditing practices, methods and documentation

  • Maintain open communication with management

  • Provide assistance in the review of bespoke customer requests/Bids and Tenders of potential impact to IMServ's accreditations

  • Provide assistance with management and hosting of any external audit

  • To deputise where/when required for Senior Managers in all audit related matters

    Proven experience in an internal audit environment.

  • Ideally qualified as an internal auditor in ISO14001, ISO9001 and ISO27001 standards

  • Proven knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and regulations

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Analytical and critical thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills (8D would be nice)

  • Self-motivated, focused and determined

  • Sound independent judgement

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Good time management, planning and organizational skills

  • Able to identify potential problems and draw informed conclusions

  • Able to align approach to business strategy to identify key concerns

  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data and to compile detailed reports

  • ISO 45001 Lead Auditor

  • An understanding of the UK Utility / Energy sector (desirable), Audit: 3 years (preferred)
