Full Job Description

Student Success Tutors (SSTs) play a pivotal role in GBS' ability to maintain high levels of student retention, attainment and satisfaction. As a Head Student Success Tutor (HSST) in a Faculty and aligned to a specific collaborative partner, you will manage a team of SSTs to ensure top rate delivery of student support services. You will be responsible for your team providing consistent, accurate and timely responses to student needs and enquiries across a wide range of services provided by GBS.

As a HSST, you will be the main interface between the SST team, key individuals at the collaborative partner, and key stakeholders across GBS. You will report to the Dean and be part of the Faculty Management Team. You will work with the Dean of the Faculty and the Dean of Students to identify and address areas of concern for the faculty. You will be the liaison point for processes, opportunities, services and information from the collaborative partner or requests from the Dean. You will work with the other Head SSTs to ensure sharing of good practice and consistency of service across GBS. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of student services throughout your faculty as well as across a number of GBS student services.

Main Responsibilities

Manage Senior SSTs and support them in their management of SSTs across the faculty in the delivery of their day to day duties and to ensure timely completion of these duties.
Ensure that all SSTs maintain a comprehensive and contemporary knowledge of all the support services available at GBS and the specific collaborative partner.

Ensure that all SSTs provide basic academic and IT support to students, both inside and outside of the classroom.

Ensure that the SSTs follow up student non-attendance immediately and refer persistent cases to the Student Retention Team.
Work with the Dean and Associate Deans to ensure SSTs are regularly scheduled for in-class support sessions.
Work with Student Welfare and the Employability and Careers teams to help ensure the delivery of workshops, events, career fairs, and other student events, to enhance the student experience.
Work with the Dean, Associate Dean and Head of the Provosts Office to ensure all student surveys are effectively administered.
Ensure SSTs play a full role in delivering any action plans devised in response to student outcome and survey data.
Ensure timely and accurate record keeping by SSTs and produce reports as requested.
Ensure timely and accurate responses to requests from the collaborative partner.
Ensure all SSTs maintain accurate records which are open for inspection by the
Dean.
Ensure communication with students is both timely and effective, employing a range of digital and in person methods.
Schedule team members to assist Registry with induction/enrolment processes as required.
Perform all duties of a Senior SST or SST in case of staff shortage.
Work with other Head SSTs ensure efficient deployment of SSTs staff to ensure adequate coverage across all faculties and campuses., The Head Student Success Tutor will also be expected to demonstrate their commitment:

Degree or equivalent.
Substantial experience (3-5 years) of student administration.
Strong managerial skills.
Knowledge and experience of student records administration and the application of

related.
Experience in the provision of information and guidance to managers, staff and
students.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
Flexible and responsive to customer needs and able to provide information.
Excellent organisational skills, able to prioritise a variety of work activities in a busy
environment.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Numeracy, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good computer skills with experience working with Excel, Word and MS Outlook.
Willingness and ability to work additional hours at peak periods as necessary to get the job done.
Willingness and ability to travel between GBS sites as required.
