Full Job Description

We are seeking a Field Calibration Technician to join our team, responsible for performing on-site routine service, recalibration, validation, and repair of high technology optical electronic instrumentation and associated accessories. This position is based at our Northampton facility where you will carry out routine service/repairs in-house, as well as involving frequent travel to customer sites throughout the UK. The successful candidate will be issued with a Company vehicle and other essential devices.

We understand that we are a 'niche' business and so we know that most people will not be familiar with or understand our products. We provide full training and would expect the successful candidate to commit to a structured induction and training programme.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) that is based at our Northampton facility and involves travelling to customer sites in order to carry out service/repairs on-site.

Our hours of work are from 08:45am until 16:45pm, Monday-Friday., 1. Attend for, and fully engage and participate in training to:

  • Perform routine service, recalibration and validation of optical electronic and associated instrumentation;

  • Fault find and repair, to component level (where possible), a wide variety of electronic PCBs;

  • Carry out mechanical and optical repairs to instrumentation;

  • Monitor Test Equipment calibration records; organising timely recalibration and/of PAT testing of Test Equipment and appliances;

  • Assist with customer's technical queries by telephone and Email communication;

  • Assist with installation, commissioning, validation and testing of Facility Monitoring Systems, Clean Air Devices and Environments (by special arrangement);


  • 2. Receive and process Goods-In, booking in customers' instruments;

    3. Maintain stock and consumables - raising Purchase Requisitions;

    4. Prepare and pack instruments for despatch following recalibration/repair;

    5. Maintain a tidy workshop, stores and packing areas;

    6. Work within the confines of the Company's quality system (ISO 9001:2015) and adhering to all policies and procedures;

    7. Accurate completion of service reports, calibration certificates and other associated paperwork;

    8. Maintain own health and wellbeing so as to perform work tasks efficiently;

    9. Undertake any other duties as reasonably required by the employer, which are appropriate to the role.

    Required Qualification(s): BTEC Level 3 in Electronic Engineering (and above) or equivalent
