Full Job Description

Our Business Support Team provide the admin support for the Licensing, Food and Safety and Community Protection teams, working closely with a variety of Environmental Health, Licensing and Enforcement Officers to ensure that we provide an excellent and efficient service both internally and externally to residents and businesses. We are the first port of call for our customers looking for support with: licensing queries (taxis, premises, animal boarding to name a few), setting up food businesses or other food issues and any neighbourhood or community protection issues.

What you'll be doing…

  • Dealing with and responding to calls and emails from residents, customers and businesses on a daily basis.

  • Processing requests/applications/complaints, giving the appropriate and relevant advice where necessary (or liaising with colleagues in order to be able to do so).

  • Building positive and effective relationships with officers within the various teams we support in order to provide an excellent and efficient service.

  • Developing a good and clear understanding of the teams we support to ensure that queries can be responded to and dealt with at first contact.

  • Updating any record systems to ensure correspondence is logged with accuracy and as necessary.

  • Updating records and documents accurately.

  • Provide administrative support to the services of the directorate(s).

  • Raising invoices and purchase orders and undertake reconciliation and goods receipting as required., The Councils want to ensure all our employees have a safe comfortable place to work, ensuring that employees feel empowered to actively manage their own wellbeing both at work and at home.     Role Snapshot… Working to support the busy Regulatory and Licensing Team within South Norfolk & Broadland Councils. You will be friendly, polite and professional. Every day will bring a variety of work so you will need the ability to multi-task, with great communication skills and enjoy problem solving. This role will never be dull and there will always be plenty to do, Proven adaptability and willingness to multi-task, manage workloads and prioritise effectively


  • Evidence of well-developed administrative skills with the ability to operate a variety of IT systems at one time with proficient knowledge of a range of computer packages e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel etc.

  • Excellent communication skills with a professional and confident telephone manner and evidence of dealing with customers through a variety of channels
