Your Role:

As the Agri-Science and Technology Lead and HE Lecturer, you will:

Lead Innovation: Drive advancements in agricultural practices through technology, research, and sustainable methods.

Manage and Develop Curriculum: Oversee the development and delivery of cutting-edge higher education courses in agri-science and technology.

Foster Research Opportunities: Identify and pursue research opportunities that align with our mission of sustainable and technologically advanced agriculture.

Engage with Industry: Build and maintain relationships with key industry partners, stakeholders, and organisations to enhance learning and research opportunities.

Inspire Students: Mentor and guide students, fostering a learning environment that prepares them for successful careers in agri-science., We believe this approach will improve technical teaching, skill development and deepen Learning, better prepare students for the world and workplace. Teaching here is moving away from traditional methods and using technology to support all aspects of practice in a broad and balanced way from teaching and learning, progress tracking, subject specialist equipment and learning resources. With a dedicated team of support colleagues and a culture of 'teachers helping teachers' we hope to enable everyone to develop the skills for 21st century teaching practices.

  • Experienced in agri-science, with a strong background in agricultural technology, research, or education.

    A leader with proven project management skills and the ability to inspire both students and colleagues.

    Innovative with a track record of implementing new technologies or practices in agriculture.

    A clear understanding of research concepts and data analysis and the application of these within Agric-science and Technology.

    Qualifications: Educated to at least Level 6, but ideally a Master's or higher in Agricultural Science, Technology, or a related field. Experience in higher education is desirable., Disability Confident

Askham Bryan College and University Centre are searching for an Agri-Science and Technology Lead to spearhead our efforts in revolutionising the agricultural sector through cutting-edge technology and sustainable practices. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact on the future of agriculture and to shape the next generation of agri-science professionals.

    Where is this post based?

    Askham Bryan College and University Centre is an ambitious, specialist land-based college based across the North of England with its main campus based on the outskirts of historic York.

    As one of the largest specialist land-based colleges in the UK our strategy for the next decade emphasises our commitment to a high quality technical and professional land-based curriculum, provision of outstanding resources that deliver an exceptional and inclusive student experience and our contribution to the circular economy and sustainable developments.

    The College is part of the Yorkshire and Humber Institute of Technology is funded by Department for Education and to date has provided £1.7 million to develop specialist IoT classrooms and a precision livestock facility comprising a calf rearing facility and beef grower unit, and a teaching and learning space. The state-of-the-art equipment is being used by students for teaching and research. The facility takes a fully digitised approach to sustainable high welfare farming. Students complete research and make animal husbandry and welfare decisions based on real time data. This includes recording each animal's growth and health including its food and water intake via electronic wearable devices.
